Who will play in the Semi-Final of the Cricket World Cup?

After 43 One Day Internationals in England and Wales, the teams for the semi-final stage of the ICC Cricket World Cup have been decided. Based on the points table, Australia, India, England and New Zealand will definitely move on to the knockout phase of the Cricket World Cup.

As illustrated below, Australia are on 14 points, India on 13, England on 12 and New Zealand are currently on 11 points.

The first semi-final will take place on Tuesday 9 July at Old Trafford in Manchester. The second semi finale will take place on Thursday 11 July at Edgbaston in Birmingham. The winner of these two matches will then play in the final on Sunday 14 July at Lord’s in London.

Meanwhile, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, South Africa, West Indies and Afghanistan are already out of the tournament – and, will therefore be returning home to their respective countries.

While commenting on Pakistan’s inability to qualify for the semi-final stage of the World Cup, the legendary retired cricketer Shoaib Akhtar tweeted: “Spirited performance by Pakistan. Outplaying Bagladesh. But a sad end to our World Cup campaign. Small things here & there could have changed things for us.”
