The most popular and anticipated sporting tournament is due to start in Qatar in the next few days and I am incredibly excited and jubilant. The core reason for being overwhelmingly excited and jubilant is because the World Cup in Qatar is going to be the best World Cup ever – and there are a number of reasons for my thoughtful and positive prediction.

Firstly, the football stadiums are marvellous, exquisite and the definition of perfection coupled and infused with an underlying principle of uniqueness. The architects and engineers involved in creating these gorgeous venues have imagined the impossible, they have, in fact, done and completed the impossible – stadiums with such unique designs don’t exist anywhere else on the planet. They are, what one might call in Latin, ‘sui generis’.

An example of this is Al Thumama Stadium, which is my favourite venue because it’s an example of how architects can blend tradition with the present and the future. Al Thumama Stadium highlights how futuristic infrastructure can be enriched through beauty, regional identity and meaning. Of course, all of the eight venues are unique in themselves but my four other favourite ones are Al Bayt Stadium, Al Janoub Stadium, Ahmad bin Ali Stadium and Khalifa International Stadium because they, too, convey a sense of tradition and history through their creative and aesthetic looks as well as names.

Other venues look appealing as well but they should be celebrated for a number of environmental and climate reasons. The Lusail Stadium is powered by solar energy; Education City Stadium has been regarded as one of the most environmentally friendly venues; and, Stadium 974 is going to be completely dismantled so its material can be used for other construction projects. These three impressive venues illustrate that Qatar is a world leader in environmental sustainability.

Countries all around the world should learn from Qatar on how they can make their own sporting venues much more environmentally sustainable. Countries all around the world should also learn how they can make their sporting venues look much more aesthetically appealing.

The aesthetic appeal of Qatar’s infrastructure is not just confined to its sporting venues. Instead, it’s reflected in almost every part of the country – from its office buildings, shoppings malls and hotels to open spaces such as resorts, beaches, seas, deserts and parks. Al Wahda Arch, Zig Zag Towers, Qatar Towers, Museum of Islam and Qatar National Museum are just some of the architectural marvels to delight your eyes with. Meaning that when fans are not watching football, they will have many other places they can visit and enjoy.

FIFA Fan Festival, The Corniche, Ras Abu Aboud Beach, Hayya Fan Zone, MDLBEAST Presents: Arabia, Arcadia Music Festival and Lusail Boulevard are some of the other events, activities and places that football fans and tourists will be able to attend during the tournament. The variety and diversity of these events suggests how epic and fun this year’s tournament is going to be.

Another reason why the World Cup in Qatar is going to be the best ever World Cup is because of how wealth the host nation has invested in preparing for it. It is often said that “you only get what you pay for” – and given how much wealth, resources, thought, dedication, time and effort Qatar has invested into the World Cup, fans can rest assured that it’s going to be one of the best experiences of their lifetime.

Music gives meaning to life and it’s definitely going to give a melodious meaning to the World Cup in Qatar. More than fifty high profile artists have confirmed that they will be performing in Qatar in November and December. Essentially, this means fans will continue to have a good time after a football match has ended by attending a music concert: the winners can celebrate their team’s win by enjoying cool music, whilst the losers can distract themselves through world renowned music.

The above reasons and examples illustrate that never before has any host nation put so much effort, resources, dedication, finances and thought into the World Cup. We should, therefore, be grateful and celebrate Qatar’s firm dedication to football, the greatest sport in the world.
